Penny and Polaroids is ONE!

A 'Birthday' Cupcake for Penny and Polaroids

Penny and Polaroids is ONE! I really can't believe how fast this past year has gone. What began as fun hobby has become a huge part of my life. Being a fashion blogger has brought a great deal of happiness into my life (corny but honest) and has led to some very exciting experiences. I am now more ambitious and determined than ever and I strive to bring Penny and Polaroids as far as I can.

A fashion blog, akin to magazines, could not succeed without its readers, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you to all my readers and followers. I am so thrilled any time anyone new follows, likes on Facebook or tells me in person how much they love the blog. Lately I have met so many people, many of which I had never met before, who have congratulated me on my Best Fashion Blog Award and tell me how much they love Penny and Polaroids. I am so overwhelmed by it all but couldn't be happier. It is such a fantastic feeling to hear this and know that people enjoy my blog. So thank you all so much!

Here is a collage of some great memories, aspirational quotes and a birthday cupcake (any excuse for cupcakes)..

Here's to many more 'birthdays'..

Urban Wear

Varsity Jacket (similar HERE), Bracelets (HERE) & Bag, Topshop // Reason's Sweatshirt (similar HERE), eBay //
Shorts, Primark/Penneys // Trainers (HERE), Converse // Watch & Layer Ring,
Michael Kors // Rings, Zara/Topshop

Here is the outfit I wore last week in Dublin, the day after the OohLaLa Magazine Blog Awards where I won an award for Best Fashion Blog (read the post here). It's a very urban inspired outfit, perfect for a day in Dublin looking around the shops and enjoying Starbucks and Nando's for lunch.
I, amongst many others this past season, love varsity jackets. I always have loved the style and have had two for years (see them here and here), and loved this particular one from Topshop. I love the denim and contrast beige sleeves, it's a very retro style which I love. It was over €100 in store at the time and I got it online in the Topshop sale last month for less than half price! I shared it with my followers on my Facebook page at the time, it was such a bargain!
Adored by bloggers, and made famous by celebrities such as Rihanna, Reason's Homies sweatshirts and Tshirts have become hugely popular. The New York menswear label has introduced their first women's collection and the parody sweats have become on trend must-haves. I love crew neck grey sweatshirts and couldn't resist this one. I found mine on eBay which is well worth a search, but you can guarantee it's authenticity on Asos, which I have linked above. I picked up these leatherette sports shorts in Penneys back in June and love them. I love how the sports luxe style and varsity pieces compliment each other and teamed my old reliable grey converse trainers to finish off the outfit.
I had a great few days in Dublin and am still ecstatic after receiving my award on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Stiofán and I visiting one of my favourite places, Brown Thomas on Grafton Street in Dublin, and I was treated to a beautiful Marc by Marc Jacobs leather wallet to celebrate my award. I really could not have been happier.

Penny and Polaroids has won Ireland's Best Fashion Blog by OohLaLa Magazine!

Dress, Clutch (here), Midi Rings & Bracelets, Topshop // Heels (here), Zara // Watch & Layered Ring, Michael Kors

I am beyond thrilled to announce that Penny and Polaroids won an award for Best Fashion Blog in OohLaLa Magazine's Blog Awards on Tuesday night. I am sure many of you already know this from the abundance of pictures on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I had such an amazing night at the awards and I was so excited just to be nominated. I was initially so overwhelmed and shocked to be nominated amongst Ireland's top bloggers. Penny and Polaroids is still in it's first year and as many of you will know developing a substantial following for a blog takes years and I had never expected to be awarded at such an early stage, if at all. I had an absolutely amazing night filled with pride, French martinis, some great stylish company and style aplenty. I would like to thank OohLaLa Magazine for awarding me with such a prestigious award, and a huge thank you to the magazine's fantastic editor Fiona Masterson. Also, I would like to thank all my readers, both old and new. I awoke on Wednesday morning with a crazy amount of new followers, particularly on Facebook, so thank you to everyone for all the comments, likes and shares, it means so much to me.

For the awards I opted for a very classic and simple white crepe dress form Topshop. I adore this dress so much so it seemed like the perfect choice for the awards. It's made from beautifully cut crepe material and it hangs perfectly. I have a penchant for white and for events like this I always want to stay true to my personal style and be comfortable in what I wear. I adore the silhouette of the dress and loved it the moment I put it on. I believe the dress is quite classic and as it was for an awards I opted for elegant heels and chose these on trend nude sandals from Zara. I love the simplicity of both the dress and the heels. To add some colour I chose this suede and leather contrast material teal oversized clutch from Topshop, and finished the outfit with gold jewellery aplenty. You can also see a close up shot of my new adored Michael Kors which I received from Stiofán a few weeks ago. It's so beautiful, it was such an amazing gift. I also picked up the cute belt bangle in Topshop the day of the awards, I have wanted one for ages.

Below is a picture of Stiofán and I after I won, it was a very happy and proud moment. Be sure to like Penny and Polaroids on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to see all the pictures from the party and what all the other fabulous bloggers wore.

Little White Dress

Dress, Warehouse (HERE) // Platforms, Asos (HERE) // Bag, Marc Jacobs // Watch & Ring,
Michael Kors

This dress is my latest love! A LWD (Little White Dress) is the perfect replacement for the classic LBD for Summer, and I have a penchant for classic white dresses. I adore Tshirt dresses and have been looking for a an oversized white Tshirt dress for awhile. When buying this dress I was only able to get it in a size smaller than my usual size as it was sold out on Asos and in store. Hence, it is slightly less oversized than it's supposed to be but I actually like it a little more fitted as the detail and material in the dress is quite pretty and I think the more fitted silhouette suits it better. The fabric is also amazing, you'd never think it was high street! I wore the dress on a night out last weekend and actually had quite a few people ask where it was from. You can purchase the dress HERE, I would highly recommend it, it's a stunning dress. I teamed the dress with my tan Asos platforms which are perfect for a night out and so comfortable. I have previously posted these platforms in my Boohoo Press Day post back in April and still love them. I loved how the tan looked with the crisp white and matched my shoes with my beloved Marc Jacobs bag.

As you may know I am nominated for an award in OohLaLa Magazine's Blog Awards for the Best Fashion Blog and the awards are on tomorrow night. Eek! I'm sure it is going to be a really fun night and I''ll get to catch up with my blogger friends which is always a lot of fun. Tomorrow I will be going up to Dublin for a couple of days, staying in a hotel, and of course attending what is sure to be an amazing awards party, as you can imagine I am so excited. Be sure to keep up with me and the awards by following me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Penneys Haul

As you may know, I have been shortlisted as one of the final three nominees for Best Fashion Blog for Ireland's OohLaLa Magazine's Blog Awards 2013. The awards are sponsored by Penneys (Primark to all you non-Irish folk, it simply goes by a different name in Ireland), and during the week the fantastic OohLaLa crew sent me my invite along with a surprise gift voucher for Penneys. Yay!

I must say I was never a huge fan of Penneys until about a year ago. I think everyone would agree that they really have stepped up their game lately and I am more and more impressed every time I go in there. At the beginning of the Summer I had a €100 voucher following their Press Day event (I absolutely love their press team) and it lasted me no time at all but I purchased a huge amount of great pieces with it.

And so, with my voucher in hand, I went into Penneys in Galway during the week and within mintutes I had a handful of sartorial goodness! Above are just some of the pieces I chose. You may remember these ankle strap pointed heels from when I attended their Press Day. I loved them and I was so excited to find them in store this week. They are gorgeous on and at €18, an absolute steal. They also come in cobalt blue with a black ankle strap which I also loved. I was also so happy to snatch up these two cami's in black and white for only €5 each. They are perfect for under blazers with jeans or tucked into shorts or skirts. I also spotted this statement necklace on a mannequin and had to have it. A black and gold statement necklace is perfect for AW'13. There is also a matching cuff bracelet available.

Along with the above I picked up a basic white Tshirt, some tanning mitts, Burts Bees lip balm and a hoodie for Stiofan (wish is so soft I'm definitely going to steal) and the total came to €69. It's really amazing how far your money goes in Penneys, but as I really am fussy with quality, I wouldn't be spending even €5 on a piece that I thought was poor quality. All the pieces I bought are of lovely material and perfect style. It's all about choosing the right pieces. I am really happy with all my buys, Penneys really has surpassed expectations this Summer and with the arrival of it's AW'13 stock it seems to be getting even better.

A Facebook upload I took while in store, for those of you looking for on trend dungarees they are
 now available in Penneys

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday. I will have a new outfit post up tomorrow and don't forget Tuesday is the night of the OohLaLa Blog Awards so stay tuned with Penny and Polaroids on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to keep updated. I have a very busy and excited week ahead so be sure to follow me!

Featured in STELLAR Magazine in Association with Swatch

Featured in Stellar wearing the Bar-Lon style watch by Swatch

Above are some pictures from my latest feature in this month's Stellar Magazine, which is out now. A few weeks ago I shot with Stellar for a streetstyle feature in association with Swatch watches. The outfit was entirely styled by me and the watch I am wearing is by Swatch. As Swatch has quite an urban aesthetic, I styled an outfit which reflected this. I teamed my Summer must-have white skort with a Men's graphic jumper for a cool, urban look. I picked up this graphic sweater in Penneys/Primark's men's section and could not wait to wear it. I love graphic sweaters and this one was perfect with a white skort. The outfit really reflects my personal style, I love sweaters and skirts or shorts, and the Bar Lon style watch compliments the urban-esque outfit perfectly.

I had an amazing time shooting with Stellar and am so excited to be featured in the magazine. Be sure to pick up your copy which is on shelves now. It is the ultimate style guide this month!

Here is a closer look at the outfit (not shot by Stellar)..

Overall

Dungarees, Primark/Penneys (similar HERE) // Crop Top, (HERE) & Rings, Topshop // Sandals, ASOS (HERE) // Bag, Urban Outfitters Bracelets, H&M/Penneys // Watch & Ring, Michael Kors

Dungarees are a Summer staple for SS'13 and they are my favourite things to wear at the moment. I found these light wash short dungarees from Primark on eBay for less than €20. There was a few different denim washes available and I chose this pale wash which makes them look quite retro. There are a few more still left on eBay from various sellers, find similar ones to mine HERE, they also come in a darker wash. I have had mine since last month and have worn them a few times already, they're are so comfortable and easy to wear. Dungarees are perfect for layering over crop top and sandals or over a baggy Tshirt and converse.

Those of you who follow Penny and Polaroids on Facebook or Instagram will have seen me wearing these sandals before, or you may remember them from my July Wishlist post. I spotted these on Asos last month while searching for sandals in this style. I really wanted leather flat sandals with a single thick strap and ankle strap and found a great selection on Asos.com. These Carla ones by Pieces were my favourite and they come in quite a few colours. I adored this mint green colour and ordered them right away. I have also worn them with skinny jeans, the colour is great with blue jeans.
Have you seen my August Wihslist post? Read and shop the look HERE. I hope you all have a great weekend.
